Joel has an extensive skill stack forged by real life situations. With 35 years of experience, he has worked in Canada, the US, and Africa. From C Suite Executive, advisor to leaders, and business originator, his career spans multiple industries from start-ups to charities to global corporations.
Joel’s leadership highlights include structuring transactions in capital markets, collaborating with government Deputy Ministers, and briefing Madame President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf. All while leading an African based renewable energy business that attracted billionaire investment.
For the last decade, Joel has been working with Indigenous organizations, communities, businesses, and governments. He supported Constance Lake First Nation to secure a breakthrough settlement of $50M on a small hydro project. He has co-created Impact Assessments for Rights Holders, Reconciliation Action Plans, and strategic plans for corporations seeking to expand Indigenous procurement.
Joel has a BA from the Ivey School of Business at Western University and a post-graduate certificate from the Corporate Directors Program at the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto. His calling cards are honesty, trusted allyship alongside Indigenous owned business and communities, and collaborating to create new understandings and outcomes.
